Your Health Insurance (UHIP / College Plan) 🩺

As an international student in Ontario, you are covered by a mandatory health insurance plan (like UHIP or a specific college plan) included in your tuition. Always download and print your health insurance card before visiting a doctor.

Where to Go: Walk-In Clinics vs. ER πŸ›οΈ

For non-emergencies (like a cold, minor cut, or prescription refill), visit a local "Walk-In Clinic" or your campus health centerβ€”it's completely covered by your insurance. Only go to the hospital Emergency Room (ER) for severe, life-threatening emergencies, as wait times can be very long.

Prescriptions & Pharmacies πŸ’Š

If a doctor writes you a prescription for medicine, you must take it to a pharmacy (like Shoppers Drug Mart, Rexall, or a grocery store pharmacy) to open an account and fill it. Your student plan usually covers a massive percentage of the medicine cost!
